What is an Alternate??

At most of our youth grades, we will offer alternate positions to a small group of players.  The number of alternates positions offered depends on a variety of factors, but here is a rundown of what it is, how it works, and how much it costs...

  • An alternate is exactly like a full time player, except they do not go to tournaments unless other full time players cannot make a tournament AND the coach extends an invite to the tournament.
  • Alternates get uniforms, come to all practices, have access to Skipjacks positional clinics and indoor league, and all other non-tournament related events and functions.

  • Once we receive all tournament rsvp's back from full-time players, our coaches will see what positions (if any) they need to fill for a given tournament.  If they have openings and want to bring up an alternate to fill them, they will look at the available alternates and extend invitations to the players they feel are the best fit.

  • The cost is $1000.
    • If you are invited to a fall tournament (one-day tournament), there is a tournament fee of $100.
    • If you are invited to a summer tournament (2-day tournament), there is a $200 tournament fee.

  • There is absolutely no guarantee that an alternate will get into a tournament.  It is certainly a possibility, but do not accept an alternate invitation with the expectation of tournament playing time.
